BETTESHANGER COUNTRY PARK
Betteshanger Country Park sits on the former colliery spoil heap and is an outstanding space for people to access and explore the outdoors.
Betteshanger Country Park, Deal, Kent
OVERVIEW
Betteshanger Country Park sits on the site of a former colliery, and the soils typically have poor physical soil structure, poor water holding capacity, and contain a diverse range of potentially toxic elements.
White Land Solutions was tasked to restore three areas of land to a state where it becomes able to aid the re-vegetation of grass and other wild plants. Maintaining a good soil nutrient balance and structure that will support future growth.
SERVICES SUPPLIED:
Organic material added to the soil that will improve the soil structure, giving an initial boost to aid growth. Organic materials act as a slow release fertiliser, providing enough nutrients to aid growth for future years. The results:
- Reducing the contamination of potentially toxic elements to healthy levels.
- Improving groundwater holding capacity
THE FULL PICTURE
Organic materials from recycling processes will be brought into the site. These will be blended and incorporated into the existing ground.
The ground is levelled off and left to settle. Seeding takes place at a time to maximise the benefit of the organic material and utilise weather patterns
Additional services provided in the form of footpath construction, drainage installed and the ground preparation and septic tank installation for the colleague office area.
